Draft Action Plan for Combating Violence against Children

Today, the subsequent session of the Council for Juvenile Justice took place with the participation of Deputy Minister of Justice Kristinne Grigoryan, and presentation of the draft of the Action Plan for Combating Violence against Children was included in the agenda of the session. In her opening speech, Deputy Minister Grigoryan greeted the members of the Council and expressed gratitude to the Office of the United Nations Children's Fund in Armenia for the sustainable and effective co-operation. Touching upon protection of the rights of juveniles, the Deputy Minister emphasised that protection of the rights of juveniles is under the special care stipulated by the Constitution, and within this context, the cases of violence against juveniles are also part of the commitment of the Government on the path to building a violence-free society. Summing up her opening speech, Kristinne Grigoryan attached importance to the planning of coordinated actions for a solution to this comprehensive issue and the implementation of impartial monitoring in order to evaluate the actual results achieved. In his turn, Suren Krmoyan, Adviser to Deputy Prime Minister Tigran Avinyan, greeted the members of the Council and expressed hope that the Council, which was established in 2016, will remain an effective inter-agency platform for protection of the rights of juveniles. Afterwards, the draft of the Action Plan, which consists of 38 points for actions for combating violence against children, was presented to the members of the Council. After the presentation, the participants shared their observations and engaged in a discussion.
