New state-of-the-art equipment acquired to impose house arrest and administrative oversight measures of restraint

To impose the house arrest and administrative oversight measures of restraints provided for by the Criminal Procedure Code of the Republic of Armenia and having entered into force starting from 1 January 2023, the Ministry of Justice has acquired equipment for electronic oversight and the relevant software for them.

The equipment will operate within the coverage of mobile communication, making it possible to use the equipment in the whole territory of the Republic of Armenia.

The electronic oversight equipment is attached to the hand or leg of the accused, as a result of which the Probation Service, which will ensure imposition of the house arrest and administrative oversight measures of restraint, will have the opportunity to oversee the movement of the person and, even in case of insignificant movement, immediately record the committed violation and take measures to establish the circumstances behind the violation.

To ensure launch of the electronic oversight system, the Central Body of the Probation Service has also equipped a special room with the appropriate technical equipment.

To operate the mentioned equipment, currently, 30 employees of the Probation Service took training courses, which will be ongoing.
