Deputy Secretary General of the Ministry of Justice Nvard Vardanyan delivered an opening speech at the sector-specific discussion organised within the scope of activities for development of the “Strategy on Human Rights Protection and the
2023-2025 Action Plan deriving from the Strategy”; the discussion was devoted to the chapters of the Action Plan of the Strategy on Human Rights Protection related to the right to healthcare, the right to education, the right to employment, social security, the right to minimum living standards, the rights of the child, the right to ownership and the right to freedom of economic activities.

Vardanyan informed that discussions with stakeholders have already been organised within the framework of development of the Strategy on Human Rights Protection and the 2023-2025 Action Plan deriving from the Strategy and emphasised the importance of continuity of similar discussions with interested government agencies, international partners and representatives of civil society.

Nvard Vardanyan touched upon the activities predetermined under the “Strategy on Human Rights Protection and the 2023-2025 Action Plan deriving from the Strategy”, within the scope of which significant achievements have been recorded through joint efforts.

The specific programmes which were not fully implemented due to a number of obstructive circumstances were also discussed. In this context, Vardanyan emphasised that a number of incomplete or partially completed actions identified as a result of joint activities with the relevant stakeholders must become a matter of ongoing discussions, and the fact of including those actions in the Strategy on Human Rights Protection and the 2023-2025 Action Plan deriving from the Strategy will be considered.

Touching upon the topics for the discussion, Vardanyan attached importance to active participation of the interested government agencies, international partners and representatives of the civil society in the activities that are part of the "Strategy on Human Rights Protection and deriving Action Plan for 2023-2025" for recording more targeted actions and measurable results.

The event was held within the scope of the “Accountable Institutions and Human Rights Protection in Armenia” Project, which is funded by the European Union and is being implemented by UNDP, UNICEF, UN Population Fund and OSCE.
