Introducing programme for re-socialisation of persons deprived of liberty; active co-operation with Council of Europe continues

Deputy Minister of Justice Levon Balyan delivered opening remarks at the workshop devoted to the re-socialisation of persons deprived of liberty and organised as part of the "Strengthening Protection of the Rights of Persons in Detention" Programme being implemented by the Council of Europe where the effective co-operation with the CoE was highly appreciated. The "Needs in the Sector of Re-socialisation of Persons in Detention and the Report on Introduction of the Pilot Re-socialisation Programme" — developed within the scope of the Programme — were presented and considered during the workshop. During the meeting, international expert of the Council of Europe Martina Barić presented the international standards in the sector of re-socialisation of persons deprived of liberty. Issues related to the enhancement of re-socialisation measures and the implementation of needs were touched upon. The participants submitted recommendations on introduction of the pilot programme.
