Minister of Justice Grigor Minasyan received the delegation led by Deputy Chief of Mission at the U.S. Embassy Chip Laitinen.

Minister of Justice Grigor Minasyan highly appreciated the longstanding co-operation of the U.S. Embassy, the mission of the United States Agency for International Development and the Ministry of Justice.

The Minister highlighted the importance of such initiatives of the U.S. in the anti-corruption field such as the International Anti-Corruption Conference and the Summit for Democracy held in the capital of the United States of America Washington D.C. in December 2022.

Minister Grigor Minasyan presented the activities carried out within the scope of the fight against corruption and expressed gratitude for the efforts that the U.S. has exerted for the establishment and functioning of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Patrol Service.

During the meeting, Grigor Minasyan also presented the judicial and legal reforms being implemented in the justice sector, the goal of which is to increase independence, impartiality of the judicial system and the public confidence in the judicial system; to ease the workload of courts; to improve the quality of provision of public services; to improve the civil and civil procedure legislation; to introduce a unified management system for electronic justice and other steps that are essentially necessary for development of the judicial and legal system in the Republic of Armenia.

Chip Laitinen attached importance to the reforms being implemented in the justice sector and expressed willingness for support.

The Minister highly appreciated the great support that the USAID has provided for development of the Anti-Corruption Strategy of the Republic of Armenia and the 2023-2026 Action Plan for Implementation of the Strategy.

The Minister of Justice expressed hope that the USAID will provide support in the co-ordination of donors in the area of public governance reforms and in the selection of experts.

Both parties attached importance to the two joint action plans signed in 2022 in the U.S and concerning the justice sector, which are targeted at reforms in the anti-corruption field and law-enforcement reforms.

The parties also expressed certainty for continuity of the co-operation and predetermined the priorities that are important for both parties.
