Rustam Badasyan discussed with a high-ranking CoE official a wide scope of issues aimed at co-operation

Today, acting Minister of Justice Rustam Badasyan received Verena Taylor, Director of the Office of the Directorate General of Programmes of the Council of Europe, and newly-appointed Head of the Council of Europe Office in Yerevan Martina Schmidt.

Permanent Representative of Armenia to the Council of Europe Paruyr Hovhannisyan, First Deputy Minister of Justice Kristinne Grigoryan, Director of the "Centre for Legislation Development and Legal Research" Foundation of the Ministry of Justice Tigran Dadunts and others participated in the meeting as well.

Upon welcoming the guests and congratulating Martina Schmidt on her appointment, the acting Minister emphasized that the co-operation between the Ministry of Justice and Council of Europe Office in Yerevan has traditionally been excellent, and also considered the partnership Armenia - European Commission for Democracy through Law (“Venice Commission”) to be one of the best examples of collaboration.

Verena Taylor thanked Rustam Badasyan for the meeting and, agreeing with the assessment, mentioned that co-operation between the Ministry of Justice and Council of Europe Office in Yerevan is close, constructive and open.

During the meeting, the parties discussed a number of issues of mutual interest, by particularly touching upon the development of the implementation of the judicial reforms, the capacity-building of the Probation Service, as well as collaboration in the areas of the fight against corruption.
