22/03/2018

In relation to the publication posted on Armtimes.com on 21 March 2018 under the title "Today Minister of Justice strikes first blow at new President of Constitutional Court" and the article "Whoever said it did not say the right thing" published in the March 22 edition of "Armenian Times" daily newspaper, the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Armenia deems it necessary to clarify the following:

In the publications on the website and in the newspaper, the question of the journalist and the response of the Minister of Justice of the Republic of Armenia were stated in the following way: In response to the question of "Armenian Times" on whether it is true that the experience of Germany was considered when deciding to hold the election of the Prime Minister through an open voting, the Minister said the following: "No, I don't know who is saying that, but that person is not saying the right thing."

However, in the audio recording of the interview, the question of the journalist referred to changing the CONSTITUTION according to the model of Germany: "Mr Minister, they say the Constitution was changed according to the model of Germany", in response to which the Minister of Justice of the Republic of Armenia said "No, I don't know who is saying that, but that person is not saying the right thing".

The Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Armenia considers the incorrect formulations in this publication as inadmissible and, in accordance with points 1 and 2 of Article 8 of the Law of the Republic of Armenia "On mass media", has demanded that the above-mentioned articles be refuted on Armtimes.com and in "Armenian Times" daily newspaper.
