Draft Law of the Republic of Armenia "On national minorities" to be adopted upon mutual consent of interested parties

Today, a regular working discussion on the draft Law of the Republic of Armenia "On national minorities" was held with the participation of Deputy Minister of Justice Vigen Kocharyan at the Educational and Cultural Centre for National Minorities.

Deputies of the National Assembly representing national minorities, as well as nearly twenty members of the Council co-ordinating the activities of national-cultural organisations of national minorities of the Republic of Armenia attended the meeting. The goal of the discussion was to find a consensus over key provisions of the draft Law.

During the working discussion, Deputy Minister Kocharyan introduced the participants to the amendments made to the draft Law on the basis of the written recommendations received from them during the previous meeting. Afterwards, as a result of the discussions that were held, a consensus was also found with the members of the Council co-ordinating the activities of national-cultural organisations of national minorities in the Republic of Armenia over several provisions, and as a result, the final version of the edited draft Law will soon be submitted to the Government, as prescribed.
