Deputy Minister participates in RA-EU Subcommitee session

On 30 May, the meeting of the EU-Armenia Co-operation Subcommittee on Justice, Liberty and Security was held under the co-chairmanship of Deputy Minister of Justice of the Republic of Armenia Vigen Kocharyan in Brussels. The inter-agency delegation of the Republic of Armenia included representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia, the Police of the Republic of Armenia, the General Prosecutor's Office of the Republic of Armenia, the Central Bank of the Republic of Armenia and the State Migration Service.

Opening the meeting, Head of the Delegation of the Republic of Armenia, Deputy Minister Vigen Kocharyan attached importance to the development of the dialogue between the EU and Armenia and the co-operation in different sectors. Recording that the issues of justice, liberty and security are one of the core sectors of such co-operation, he noted that this had also been reflected in the draft fundamental agreement defining the legal basis for EU-Armenia co-operation. Bilateral co-operation in areas such as judicial-legal reforms, mutual assistance in criminal matters, migration and ensuring of border security, implementation of the Visa Facilitation and Re-admission Agreement, the fight against organised crime, including human trafficking and exploitation, terrorism, illicit traffic of drugs, fight against money laundering, realisation of anti-corruption policy and other issues became the subject of multilateral discussion during the meeting of the EU-Armenia Subcommittee. Summing up the activities of the EU-Armenia Co-operation Subcommittee on Justice, Liberty and Security, the parties positively assessed the current level of co-operation and emphasised the importance of joint projects and future actions.
