Arpine Hovhannisyan participates in non-official meeting of ministers of EU Eastern Partnership member states

On 7-8 July, Minister of Justice of the Republic of Armenia Arpine Hovhannisyan participated in the non-official meeting of ministers of EU Eastern Partnership member states in Bratislava.

The existing approaches to and the directions for the introduction of effective mechanisms for combating corruption, money laundering and the financing of terrorism in the EU and Eastern Partnership member states were discussed, and the solutions recommended in accordance with a number of legal acts, including the European Union Fourth Anti-Money Laundering Directive in the mentioned sectors, were touched upon during the meeting.

The paths for the strengthening of independence of the judicial system and transparency were also discussed during the meeting. Arpine Hovhannisyan delivered reports. In particular, the Minister presented the measures that are being taken within the scope of combating corruption in the Republic of Armenia and touched upon the activities of the Anti-Corruption Council, as well as the legislative initiatives aimed at combating corruption.

Arpine Hovhannisyan also presented the measures taken for the strengthening of independence of the judicial system and transparency during the judicial and legal reforms in the Republic of Armenia between the years of 2012 and 2016, the achievements recorded, as well as the vision for future reforms.
