Arpine Hovhannisyan participates in Paris Conference on the Legal Aspects of Investments in the Republic of Armenia

On 28 June, Minister of Justice of the Republic of Armenia Arpine Hovhannisyan participated in the Paris Conference on the Legal Aspects of Investments in the Republic of Armenia for lawyers.

The Minister stressed the importance of conducting such events and noted that they contribute to receiving proper information on the field of investments in a specific country and help potential investors make the right decisions.

In her speech, the Minister touched upon the legal grounds for foreign investments and the introduced mechanisms, then presented a number of economic sectors that are more attractive to potential investors as well as touched upon the potential of the market for foreign investments in Armenia, conditioned by accession to the Eurasian Economic Union and the opportunities provided by the existing GSP+ Agreement with the EU.

In her speech, Minister Arpine Hovhannisyan also noted that Armenia is one of the most liberal countries for investments among the CIS member countries. Armenia has improved its positions in the Doing Business 2016 Index of the World Bank, now ranking 35th.

According to the Minister, the investment policy of the Republic of Armenia is one of the key directions of the Government of Armenia. "For the purpose of implementing an effective investment policy, Armenia has declared and is leading an "open door" policy, applying almost no restrictions on those carrying out investment activities, and this is guaranteed by the Constitution and laws of the Republic of Armenia," Arpine Hovhannisyan said.
