Application to receive burial allowance may also be submitted to territorial body of Civil Status Acts Registration starting from 4 March

03/03/2020

In execution of the assignment of Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia Tigran Avinyan, the Ministry of Justice, jointly with the Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs, has created, through the combination of electronic governance systems for Civil Status Acts Registration and the State Social Security Service, an opportunity for citizens to submit an application to receive burial allowance at the same body of Civil Status Acts Registration upon registration of the death of the person. Thus, it will no longer be necessary to visit the State Social Security Service to submit an application to receive burial allowance.

The applications for receipt of burial allowance will be exclusively filled out by the employee of the body of Civil Status Acts Registration. The signed version of the application will be forwarded to the Social Security Service through the electronic governance system for processing as prescribed by the legislation.

Applicants also have the opportunity to select the commercial bank from which they would like to receive the burial allowance. The list of banks and necessary consulting will be provided by the employees of Civil Status Acts Registration during state registration of the death.

Currently, the maximum time limit for transferring burial allowances is one week, but the State Social Security Service is carrying out relevant activities to reduce the maximum time limit for granting burial allowances to applicants and to set the time limit for up to one working day.

The programme will be launched on 4 March 2020. The acceptance of applications for burial allowance at the bodies of Civil Status Acts Registration is voluntary. To receive burial allowance, citizens also have the opportunity to apply to the State Social Security Service, including on-line.
