Today, Deputy Minister of Justice of the Republic of Armenia Suren Krmoyan received the citizens who had stopped two-way traffic on the Yerevan-Sevan highway — within the administrative territory of Gagarin settlement — and the defence counsels of their relatives.

The defence counsels presented their claims relating — according to their statement — to the groundless delay of court sessions of eight detained persons under one case, rejection by the court of the motion to replace detention as a measure of restraint with bail, as well as other issues.

The Deputy Minister presented the competences of the Ministry of Justice, the possibilities of support and noted that, in the stage of preliminary investigation, the executive power does not have any competence to interfere in any way. At the same time, he informed that, according to the study of preliminary data related to the incriminated articles, the detained persons will be released on the ground of the amnesty act following the criminal judgment of the court having entered into legal force.

Suren Krmoyan urged the relatives of the detained persons to act only by law and not to take extreme action.
