Deputy Minister of Justice receives Delegation of European Parliament

On 18 June, Deputy Minister of Justice of the Republic of Armenia Suren Krmoyan received the delegation led by Chair of the Committee on Foreign Affairs of the European Parliament David McAllister.

Deputy Minister Krmoyan attached importance to the visit of the delegation to Armenia and touched upon the priorities indicated in the judicial-legal sector in the Program of the Government, considering, in this context, the existence of political will noteworthy for implementation of significant reforms.

David McAllister noted that the EU was ready to assist democratic Armenia in the activities for ensuring independence of the judiciary system and the fight against corruption, with the view to strengthening rule of law and human rights protection in the country.

During the meeting, the parties also touched upon the actions envisaged by the Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership Agreement concluded between Armenia and the EU, capacity building of the Probation Service of the Ministry of Justice of Republic of Armenia and other issues.

At the end of the meeting, Deputy Minister Krmoyan and representative of the European Parliament David McAllister stressed the need for having an independent judiciary power in the fight against corruption.
