EU and UNICEF workshop "Integrating child rights in development co-operation" is launched

   The two-day expert workshop "EU-UNICEF Child Rights Toolkit in Armenia: Integrating child rights in development co-operation" was launched on 22 February. Minister of Justice of the Republic of Armenia Arpine Hovhannisyan, Minister of Labour and Social Affairs of the Republic of Armenia Artem Asatryan, Head of the Delegation of the European Union to Armenia Piotr Świtalski, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia Ashot Hovakimian, as well as representatives of state administration bodies, international organisations and civil society participated in the event.

   Stressing the importance of organising such events, Arpine Hovhannisyan noted that the protection of child rights has a unifying significance, with the vision of a peaceful and prosperous future. The Minister stressed the importance of creating Council for Juvenile Justice, which can combine the efforts of interested and responsible bodies in order to ensure progress in the sector.

   Ambassador Piotr Świtalski emphasised that special attention should be paid to the child rights, since they are integral parts of human rights. According to him, the presence of the Ministers in this event attests that the Government of the Republic of Armenia stresses the importance of the sector for the protection of child rights.

Afterwards, the participants of the workshop discussed issues related to the situation of child rights in Armenia, the priorities of the country, as well as to the structure of the EU-UNICEF Child Rights Toolkit.
